I was more than pleasantly surprised when I received a note from Ellen McVey launching the "Montane Scottish Ultra Marathon Series (SUMS)".
A championship at the doorstep. Under one roof so to speak. Great!
Thankfully I had already entered the Fling the WHW Race and the Devil and now I have also entered the Glasgow to Edinburgh "double" Marathon. And with those four I would qualify for the Series. Well, I better finish the WestHighland Way race then...
My SUMS Races
6th March Glasgow – Edinburgh Double Marathon (56 Miles)
24th April Montane Highland Fling (53 Miles)
19th June West Highland Way Race (95 Miles)
7th August Devil o’ the Highlands (43 Miles)
There are more SUMS races which I might try eg. the D33. Calendar or legs permitting. I'll find out sooner or later.
Also entered for the first time:
28th August The CCC - Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix (98k)
And for the 3rd time.
26th September: The Berlin Marathon
That's five Ultras and a Marathon. Sounds like a plan. Can't wait for the first race!

Great plan Thomas!
2010 is going to be your year in the whw!!
Have you & Silke booked in for the Gala night?
JK
A plan indeed! All the best with it, especially the WHWR. See you at the Fling and in Chamonix. :-)
John, yes. 1) I am going the finish the WHW Race this year 2) We have both asked Murdo for Gala Tickets. I am not someone who owns much formal wear, but I'll find something.
Brian,
looking forward to see you again soon. You are in great shape, sub 9:50 in the Fling will be more than achievable!
I hope you'll be wearing a kilt!
I've now dubbed the third time lucky effect "doing a McIntosh".
See you soon.
Just found and enjoyed your blog.
As a fellow Scot, but one who lives out in Chamonix, i look forward to lining up alongside you in my first attempt at the CCC this year. Should be fantastic.
Good luck in your preparation for what looks like an epic season and keep the entertaining blogging coming :-).
Cheers
Phil Martin
